WWE NXT 24 January

This week’s NXT saw Johnny Garganno defending his number 1 contendership against The Velveteen Dream.

The show started with Velveteen Dream cutting a promo backstage. In the promo, he talked about how everyone dreams of being NXT Champion and tonight a dream will be over.

Next up we had No Way Jose Vs Cezar Bononi. The duo had a competitive match that No Way Jose won by pinning Bononi with a Pop Up Forearm.

Bianca Belair faced off against someone I don’t care much about. Bianca Belair disposed off the competitor without too much difficulty, pinning her after Powerbomb.

Shayna Baszler and Ember Moon have an interview backstage. Ember Moon questioned Shayna Baszler’s methods. Shayna Baszler says she doesn’t care about what people think about the path she chose and that at Takeover Ember Moon will watch Shayna Baszler walk away with the NXT women’s title.

TM61 then had a backstage segment in which they talked about what TM61 is (a rocket, not a Pokemon thing), their injury, the recovery and that they will return to action next week. NXT Tag scene is looking hot.

Akam and Rezar had a scheduled match against two helpless dudes that they beat up before the match started and then said that’s Undisputed Era come Takeover.

We had a fantastic main event yet again to close out NXT. Velveteen Dream wrestled with Johnny Garganno early on and held his own. As the match went on Velveteen Dream used his size and strength advantage to seize control of the match. Late in the mtach Johnny Gargannno kicked out from a top rope Super Death Valley Driver that Johnny Garganno kicked out of. Velveteen Dream went for the top rope elbow drop but Garganno got his legs up to block and locked in the GarganNo Escape and made Velveteen Dream tap.
After the match NXT Champion Andrade Cien Almas made his way out to the ring. The cocky champion attacked Garganno but Garganno fought back and stood tall with the NXT title held high to close out the show.

NXT has been putting out awesome main events for a long time now, even after the likes of Joe, Nakamura, Balor and Sami Zayn leaving for the main roster.
